Besan Sev


Besan Sev is a  spicy, deep fried savory & snack made during Diwali. It is one of very popular snack that you can find all over India, even in a little tea shops in villages.This crispy, crunchy & yummy namkeen also enjoyed as a topping for various chaats or a plain snack with a cup of tea.

The main ingredients are chickpea flour & various spices like black pepper, red chili powder, crushed cloves, carom seed & asafoetida. 


Besan Sev


Besan sev is quite simple to make. This can be made fresh in your own kitchen within literally half an hour. It’s healthy, tasty & crispy plus you can make them how much you want.


Ingredients:



2 cup chickpea flour (besan) 
2 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp carom seed (ajwain) 
2 tbsp hot oil
4-5 cloves (crushed) 
Pinch of asafoetida
Oil to deep fry
Salt to taste


Method:



1. In a large bowl add besan, red chili powder, carom seeds, cloves, asafoetida, salt & oil.
    Rub everything between palms to get sand like consistency.

2. Slowely add water & make a soft, smooth dough. Keep it aside for 10-15 mins.

3.  Heat oil in a pan while oil is heating up, take the sev maker & use the disc as per your     
     choice. Grease the inside of sev maker & fill  with dough. 

4. Press the maker over oil as soon as sev fall slowly move the maker in a circular motions
    so that they do not stick together.

5. Let the sev fry till it become golden in color.Take it out from the hot oil over the paper napkin.

6. Do the same process with the remaining dough.

7. When sev cool downs completely, store it in air tight container. 

8. Enjoy the crispy besan sev.
